Fun fact about me: I have an entire cabinet in my home dedicated to candles. After moving into my first apartment, I was searching for ways to make my new space feel comfortable. Autumn scented candles were just the thing! I burned Leaves all Autumn long and that began my candle obsession. In the past, I’ve been strictly a Bath and Body Works fan, but this year I wanted to do something different. If you’ve been on Etsy, you know you can find just about anything on there, and candles are no exception. I found a few women-owned candle shops that I wanted to shout out this Autumn for not only their scents but the creativity and beauty that went into their packaging! Without further adieu, here are three women-owned candle shops to support this Autumn.
Evil Queen
If you’re looking for a sassy candle to gift to your best friend, Evil Queen is the spot! Not only are the candles brilliantly named, but the scents are also divine, and the packaging is adorable. I tested the Basic Witch candle and it made all of my pumpkin spice dreams come true. You probably can find a pumpkin spice candle anywhere, but not one like this. All of the candles are handmade and poured and you can feel the love that went into each one! This is definitely a candle that will make you keep the jar long after the wax is gone.

Can we talk about labels? Let’s talk about labels. Most people judge a candle on its scent. While scents are important, I think the overall aesthetic of a candle is a huge factor in whether I buy it or not. Of the tons of pumpkin spice candles on Etsy, The Dancing Wick’s selection stood out in a big way. The labels are beautifully illustrated and remind me of the Autumn and Christmas markets my mom would take me to as a child. The small details in the labels and the added bit of twine wrapped around the lid make each candle feel like it was made just for you- or for that special someone in your life! I particularly enjoyed the Pumpkin Spice, Autumn Walk, and Amish Harvest scents!
The Eternal Flame
The witch is back! And there’s hell to pay…but you can pay far less and receive these beautiful Hocus Pocus votive candles from The Eternal Flame! If you know me, you know I’m a Hocus Pocus fanatic. There are tons of think pieces floating around about why Millenials are so stuck on the Sanderson sisters, but for me, Hocus Pocus is extremely special. We were both released in 1993 (the movie into theaters, me out of my mother’s womb) and share an appreciation for the silly/spooky balance of the greatest night of the year, Halloween. I saw this votive trio on Etsy and knew I had to have it so I could worship my sisters properly! The Eternal flame makes a TON of beautiful votives with other movie and TV characters, celebrities, and even political figures! I imagine you can find a gift for just about anyone from this shop. And if anyone’s missing, you can tell the artist and it might make it to the shop!
